We have been moving out of the old paradigm of connection to our ancestors and into a new way of working with them. 

For a long time, connecting with our lineages has been about finding what is wrong with me:

• Why do I act like this? 
• Where did this pattern come from? 
• What did I inherit that I never asked for? 

The work of unearthing what we have inherited from our ancestors is real, useful, and will continue to be an important part of our healing. But it is no longer the whole story.

I recently returned to the Shifting Dimensions podcast with Jummie Moses for our second conversation, and what came through was clear: the ancestors are not only here to show us what needs to be released. They are here as a part of our spirit team, showing up to help us reclaim our gifts and the gifts of our lineages, the strength and resilience, and the medicine that got buried generations ago. From Wound to Gift 

I remember watching the first Black Panther movie with Chadwick Boseman (RIP). There is a scene in which, to regain perspective and reclaim his strength and power, he travels into the ancestral plane of his people. He expresses his grief for his losses and connects with his ancestors as guides for his own soul's journey. When he connects with his ancestors, he gains wisdom, reclaims the gifts of his people, feels empowered, and carries their strength back into his body and back into the world.

That is the shift. We get to hold both: the layers we inherited that we want cleared, and the gifts that are ready to come home and be expressed.

I have watched this happen in session after session. An ancestor passes down a feeling such as fear or guilt, or a behavior, pattern, or belief, to their children. That feeling continues to the following generation, and so on. In the ancestral work, we discover the feeling, behavior, pattern, or belief still running its course and being expressed within the life experience. When we bring awareness to it and clear it out of the person and the lineage, a shift begins to happen. There becomes space for the person and the ancestors to deepen a co-creative connection based on guidance, empowerment, upliftment, purpose, and truth. They start to receive the energetic gifts, the expanded wisdom, the ancient medicine of their people.

You are not just the sum of what your family survived. You are also the carrier of what they knew.

The Ancestors Speak in More Places Than the Altar

There is power in working with an altar. Intentionality and anchors matter, especially as we are still moving through a mental, 3D world. But as we step into this New Paradigm, there is no right, wrong, good, or bad about how we connect. There just is. Following your truth is the practice, not following a prescribed ritual.

The truth is your ancestors are not waiting for you to light a candle. They are already speaking to you, in the sudden curiosity about a great-grandfather you never met, in the personality trait your daughter is expressing that is unmistakably your grandmother's, in the conversation your father starts out of nowhere about his father, in dreamtime where you dream about members of your lineage. 

Opening the field does not require a tool. It requires curiosity. Notice the subtleties and synchronicities that present for you when you set the intention to connect with your ancestors. This is best in your downtime, such as in meditation, dreamtime, during contemplation, on walks, sitting outside, taking a bath, etc. Watch for the holographic flash of a face you recognize, or an unseen presence you feel around you where you get an inner knowing hit that it is an ancestor. Notice when a pattern you thought was yours turns out to belong to someone five generations back. This is the work: to be present, slow down, and be open to receive what is already being offered.

As our personal and collective consciousness continues to expand, so will our healing and our connection to our ancestors. We are moving beyond a paradigm that says you must fully understand and dissect every ancestral wound to get to a certain level of expanded awareness. Rather, we get to stay open to what presents, create a co-creative connection with our ancestors, allow the shifts to happen organically, and acknowledge the support our ancestors are bringing forward.
